Yarn Basket

Our story

Made by hand, by Priya

Yarn Basket is a small crochet studio in Piro, Bihar. Everything you see here is made at home by Priya, one stitch at a time.

How it started

It began with a video and a ball of yarn

Priya taught herself to crochet from YouTube videos, one stitch at a time. Her first flowers went to friends, who loved them and soon asked to buy more.

That is how Yarn Basket began. Today her bouquets, keychains and hair pieces travel all over India.

Who makes it

Priya

There is no factory and no machine. Priya crochets every piece herself, and packs every parcel by hand.

She cares about the small things: a petal that sits right, a colour that feels warm, a parcel that is a joy to open. When you message us, she is the one who answers.

How a piece is made

Petal by petal

Every piece starts as a ball of soft yarn. Each petal and leaf is crocheted by hand, then shaped and joined into a flower.

A keychain takes about half an hour and a bouquet about an hour, more for larger and more detailed pieces. That is why no two are exactly alike, and why they never wilt.
